However, when we look at where these people stay, most of them are concentrated in some cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, and in some areas, the problem of overtourism is becoming serious, such as excessive crowding, bad manners, which affects local residents, and a drop in tourist satisfaction. In order to resolve these issues, JTB and JAL will promote the decentralization of foreign visitors to Japan and contribute to regional revitalization, economic effects, and job creation by utilizing domestic regional routes that are less frequented by foreign visitors to Japan and creating tours that allow them to experience the diverse culture, rich tourism resources, and hidden local materials that are scattered throughout Japan. As the first step in the initiative, JTB and JAL will begin selling tours targeting foreign visitors to Japan visiting the Osaka/Kansai Expo from March 25th (Tuesday) that will include a stay in the Osaka/Kansai area where the expo is being held, as well as domestic regional routes departing from and arriving at Osaka Itami Airport operated by JAL Group’s J-AIR and JAC. We plan to continue expanding our products as part of the second edition. Please look forward to our future efforts.
