(Nishiizu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture; CEO: Daiki Kunimura) and Japan Fish College (Miura City, Kanagawa Prefecture; Principal: Eiichi Matsuyama) are co-hosting the “Umi-Tsuri GO Nishiizu Fishing Tournament 2025,” a four-continuation fishing event planned and organized by students of Japan Fish College in the Nishiizu area. The event will be held over two days, October 11th and 12th (with backup days on November 1st and 2nd). Each tournament, produced by the students themselves, will have a different theme and rules, allowing participants to experience a new and fascinating world of fishing. In addition, Umigo Co., Ltd. will be holding the “Sea Fishing GO Nishina Fishing Port 1st Anniversary Fishing Event” on September 27th (backup day is October 4th) to commemorate the first anniversary of the introduction of Sea Fishing GO at Nishiizu Town’s Nishina Fishing Port. Nishiizu Town’s fishing cooperative, tourism and local products, and fishing industry are providing strong support. This fall, we’re hosting an amazing fishing tournament that’s sure to be a memorable experience! Four consecutive student-produced tournaments Four different tournaments produced by students from Japan Fish College will be held consecutively. We have a variety of tournaments that take advantage of the free-spirited ideas of students and the charm of the local area, and each tournament has its own unique theme.

Team battle format with 1 point per fish species bonus Form teams with family or friends and compete in a team tournament (1-4 people). The basic rule is 1 point per fish species. In addition, bonus points based on special rules established for each tournament are added, and the ranking is determined by the total score. The fishing fields are Tago Fishing Port, Nishina Fishing Port, Arari Fishing Port, and Ohama Surf. This tournament makes full use of the waters of Nishiizu Town. After fishing, participants will gather at Anjo Misaki Furusato Park for the awards ceremony.

In addition to parrotfish and stingrays, which cause coastal barrenness, participants will also be able to target “specially wanted fishmen” set by the producers, who are students at the Fish College. This tournament focuses on catching “Ayakaridai,” a sea bream that, while containing the word “tai” (sea bream) in its name, is not a member of the Sparidae family. For example, the target species include the Japanese anemone and the Japanese scorpionfish. This fishing tournament shines a spotlight on fish that are usually considered “bycatch” while deepening knowledge about fish diversity and classification. Click here for details
