This project aims to restore the Ala Wai Canal’s ecosystem to a level where residence residents and tourists can safely enjoy fishing and swimming in the Ala Wai Canal by 2026 by harnessing the power of effective microorganisms (EM) and using the natural power of bioremediation to purify water. The hotel continues to actively work toward the project’s goal of ultimately introducing 300,000 Genki balls. The Ritz-Carlton Residences Waikiki Beach has been supporting the Genki Ala Wai Project since 2022, and has donated more than $50,000 (approximately 7 million yen) to date.
