destination! The first phase of the “Nigiwai Ninja Corridor
Development Project” has been completed, with the tourist information center, retail store, and cafe opening on July 19th (Sat), and the hotel opening on July 21st (Mon, national holiday)! The renovation of the former Ueno City Hall, which Iga City, Mie Prefecture, has been carrying out as part of the “Nigiwai Ninja Corridor Development Project,” has been completed, and the building will be reborn as the “Former Ueno City Hall SAKAKURA BASE,” a complex that includes a tourist information center, retail facilities, a hotel, and a cafe. The tourist information center, retail facility, and cafe will open on Saturday, July 19, 2025, and the hotel will open on Monday, July 21 (holiday). A library is also scheduled to open in the facility in April 2026. This place, which symbolizes the history and culture of Iga City, will finally be fully operational as a tourist hub that creates new charm and excitement in the region. The “Bustling Ninja Corridor Development Project” is an important initiative that will increase the appeal of “Ninja City” and further develop the local economy. We are still working on completing the entire project, and the Iga-ryu Ninja Experience Facility is currently under construction. First of all, with the first phase opening of this complex facility “Former Ueno City Hall SAKAKURA BASE”, we hope that tourists will be able to experience the charm of Iga more deeply, and that local residents will use it as a new place of interaction and relaxation.
