(Kurihama Flower Park, Yokosuka City) This year marks the first attempt at a large-scale flower field of approximately 1 million sunflowers! The flower fields are open to the public free of charge until Sunday, August 3rd.

(Kurihama Flower World, Yokosuka City) Kurihama Flower World, located in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture (designated manager: Yokosuka Flower World Seibu Partners, representative company: Seibu Landscape Co., Ltd.), is attempting a large-scale flower field of approximately one million sunflowers for the first time. The sunflowers are currently in full bloom, and the flower field is open to the public free of charge until Sunday, August 3rd. Until now, our garden has planted sunflowers throughout the garden as a summer flower. However, this year, as part of our soil improvement efforts, we planted approximately 1 million “Pioneer” sunflowers in the Poppy and Cosmos Garden for the first time as “green manure.” Green manure is a type of fertilizer that is mixed directly into the soil (plowed in), providing nutrients to the soil. There will also be a collaboration with “Godzilla | Flower Art of Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji”! Approximately one million “Pioneer” sunflowers are about 80-150cm tall, so the flowers are at eye level, making them easy to view and photograph.

The sunflower fields will be open until Sunday, August 3rd. In preparation for the autumn flowering season of approximately 1 million cosmos, we are planting sunflowers as green manure to improve the soil in the Poppy and Cosmos Garden. Therefore, we plan to replace the sunflowers with cosmos from Monday, August 4th, so there will only be a short time left to view the sunflower field. We hope you will also enjoy the large-scale autumn cosmos flower field. *This year’s Cosmos Festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 20th, 2025 to Monday, November 3rd (national holiday). *The flowering situation and expected peak viewing times may change depending on weather and other factors.
