Asama Kannon-do Held Date: Tuesday, July 8, 2025 Onioshidashi Park (Address: 1053 Kamahara, Tsumagoi Village, Agatsuma County, Gunma Prefecture, Manager: Funayama Akihiro) will hold a memorial service for those who lost their lives in the great eruption of Mt. Asama on July 8, 1783 (lunar calendar), with a rotational memorial service at the Kannon Hall of Toeizan Kan’ei-ji Temple and a chanting of the “Great Japanese Hymn of the Eruption of Mt. Asama” by members of the Tsumagoi Village Kamahara District Wasan Association. You can also enjoy the clusters of luminous moss near the approach to the garden, as well as flowers that bloom in the mountains and can only be seen at this time of year, surviving the harsh winter and blooming vigorously between the lava.
