This project will be held simultaneously at four Prince Hotel facilities (The Prince Hakone Lake Ashinoko, Ryuguden Main Building, Hakone Sengokuhara Prince Hotel, and Hakone Yunohana Prince Hotel). Based on the theme of Hakone parquet work, we will use special parquet plates made in collaboration with Tsuyuki Woodworks to provide an experience that can be enjoyed with all five senses through sweets that take advantage of the characteristics of each facility and spectacular views. The project also includes a tour of four facilities and a stamp rally. ◼︎ Background of implementation Prince Grand Resort Hakone has a 105-year history of working with the Hakone area, starting with “Hakone Tochi”, which is the evolution of the current “Hakone-en”. In addition to the four hotels, we have also opened day-trip facilities, delivering the charm of Hakone, which has different characteristics in each area. On the other hand, “Hakone Yosegi Zaiku” is a traditional Hakone craft that creates beautiful geometric patterns by utilizing the natural colors of various trees. In this project, we believe that the commonality between Prince Grand Resort Hakone and Hakone Yosegi Zaiku is “value that comes from the coming together of different personalities”, and each of the four facilities will offer an experience that lets you feel the diversity of Hakone, along with sweets inspired by the story of Hakone Yosegi Zaiku. Additionally, this initiative will begin in the spring of 2025, when the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway, which offers a panoramic view of all of Hakone, is scheduled to be renovated. Through new experiences, you can enjoy even more attractive Hakone. ◼︎Four points of this project 1) Original marquetry plate developed with Tsuyuki Woodworks to match each year’s theme In conjunction with this project, Tsuyuki Mokkousho will develop an original design parquet plate. In 2025, in line with the theme of the first chapter, “Blessings of the Earth,” colorful wood that symbolizes Hakone’s rich nature will be used. With this parquet dish, you can enjoy sweets while feeling the charm of Hakone parquet work more deeply. It is a beautiful piece of art that can be enjoyed with sweets, or displayed as is. *Parquet plates can also be purchased at each facility. We sell two sizes: 23cm and 15.5cm. (Sales price)・23cm: 10,000 yen・15.5cm: 5,800 (excluding tax)

You can enjoy an experience that “enjoys all five senses” while enjoying the different spectacular views at each facility.

In the first chapter to be held in 2025, “Blessings of the Earth – The Source of Parquet Nurtured by Trees”, we will create sweets that express plants, flowers, etc. so that you can experience the nature of Hakone, where the traditional craft of Hakone, Hakone Parquet, was born. *The theme and period from Chapter 2 onwards may be subject to change. – Chapter 1: “Blessings of the Earth – The source of marquetry nurtured by trees” (Spring 2025) – Chapter 2: “Craftsman’s Hands – The moment when Hakone Parquetry is born” (scheduled for summer 2026) – Chapter 3: “Crystals of Hakone Marquetry – Finished products and their uses” (scheduled for fall 2027) – Chapter 4: “Bridge to the future – People connected by parquet” (scheduled for winter 2028) About Tsuyuki Woodworks Tsuyuki Woodworks is a workshop that evolves with the times while continuing to preserve the tradition of Hakone marquetry. This workshop was founded in 1926 when the first generation Seikichi Tsuyuki studied under Jinzaburo, the grandson of Nibei Ishikawa, the founder of Hakone marquetry. While Seikichi inherited the long history of Hakone marquetry techniques, he transformed them to suit the new era. Currently, the fourth generation, Kiyotaka Tsuyuki, has inherited that spirit and is creating new Hakone marquetry with a modern sensibility. Tsuyuki Mokkojo, which aims to “create a lifestyle culture” and constantly pursues new expressions while preserving tradition, will continue to pursue its unique worldview.
