Osaka-Kansai Expo. By creating art together, children living on the Noto Peninsula and those living in the Kansai region will be able to feel each other’s feelings and create fond memories that will stay with them. In addition, from Thursday, July 17th to Tuesday, July 29th, in line with the Expo theme week, we will be flying the “Shingu Susumu Genki Nobori” banners inside the hotel and introducing the “Shingu Susumu Genki Nobori Project” in a video.

world-renowned artist who creates sculptures that move using only natural energy such as wind and water, with the strong desire to have children, who represent the future of the Earth, “experience the wonders of nature together.” When the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred in 2011, the project was named “Genki Nobori” to send “energy” to the disaster-stricken areas. Since then, this project, in which children’s energetic drawings flutter in the wind and send energy to those who see them, has been held all over the world. On Sunday, July 20th, the Osaka Kansai Expo site will host an event entitled “Connecting Kansai to the World with the Power of Art,” entitled “There are no borders in the wind! Shingu Susumu’s Genki Nobori – Connecting children of the world through art” (sponsored by the Earth Atelier Foundation and the Expo Sakuyahime Conference). Children and families from the Noto region will be invited to make 28 Genki Nobori and fly them around the site, as well as participate in experiential events. Our hotel supports this project and has decided to hold a workshop at Ecole de Royal the day after the event at the Expo. At the workshop on the 21st, under the guidance of illustrator Yuruhirori, participants will complete art works that can be easily created in a short amount of time. The theme for participants from Noto is “Memories of Osaka,” and the theme for children recruited from the Kansai region is “The Charm of Osaka.” Unlike the Cray-Pas(R) used at the Expo site, art works will be created using acrylic gouache paint. The completed works will be brought home as a memento of the Osaka-Kansai Expo. This event is also a related project to the Expo’s theme week, “Learning and Playing to Empower Life.” In conjunction with the theme week from July 17th (Thursday) to 28th (Monday), the hotel will fly the “Shingu Susumu Genki Nobori” banner until the following day, the 29th (Tuesday), and a video introducing the “Shingu Susumu Genki Nobori Project” will be shown on the large screen on the wall of the first floor lobby. By announcing the event to many people both in Japan and overseas, including hotel guests and passersby, we hope to spread awareness of the “Shingu Susumu Genki Nobori” and further boost momentum for the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
