(MMPRC/Visit Maldives) would like to inform you of new rules regarding bringing tobacco products into the Maldives. For the purpose of promoting public health, the import of e-cigarette devices,
accessories, and components will be prohibited in the Maldives as of November 15, 2024. From December 15th of the following month, the possession, use, manufacture, sale, promotion, and free distribution of electronic cigarette devices will be prohibited. This regulation applies to all residents and visitors to the country. In response to the new regulations, and based on the 4th amendment to the Regulations on the Packaging and Labeling of Tobacco Products and the Guidelines for Tax Exemption for Goods brought in by Travelers, Personal Use Goods, and Commercial Samples, Restrictions on travelers bringing in tobacco products change It was done. Only travelers entering the country on tourist visas are allowed to bring in tobacco products for personal use under any of the following conditions: Quantity that can be brought in for tax exemption Cigarettes: 200 Cigars: 20 Other tobacco products: up to 250g *Electronic cigarettes are subject to storage at customs Tobacco products in quantities exceeding the electronic cigarette limit will be stored at customs for up to 30 days. Travelers entering the country on a tourist visa can collect their items at the customs counter in the departure terminal of Velana International Airport upon departure from the Maldives. Tobacco products brought in by persons entering the country on non-tourist visas will be confiscated by customs if they do not meet the labeling requirements set by the Maldives Ministry of Health. We ask all travelers staying in the Maldives to comply with these new
