Kanagawa prefecture Press release: April 24, 2025 A venture supported by the prefecture has raised funds and will begin full-scale implementation of a new service! New fishing experience services including Sagami Bay’s only “Takotsubo owner experience” The prefecture is implementing the Kanagawa Startup Acceleration Program (KSAP), which provides intensive support for venture companies working to solve social issues. PocketPort Co., Ltd., which was selected as a support company for FY2020, has raised funds from Japan Finance Corporation through support under this program. Furthermore, we would like to inform you that after verifying the new business conducted during the support period, we have decided to start the new service in earnest. About financing and new business verification support through the acceleration program In this program, venture companies working to solve social issues are introduced to investors, financial institutions, support organizations, etc. to receive the support necessary to promote their business, and are supported in launching new businesses. PocketPort Co., Ltd., which develops and operates experiential content using ships, received support from the program and raised 3.3 million yen in funding from Japan Finance Corporation. Additionally, during the support period, we solicited users for a limited time in order to launch a fishing experience project in Sagami Bay in partnership with fishermen, which attracted many users, received positive feedback, and provided benefits to fishermen. Therefore, based on the results of funding and business verification, we have decided to start the fishing experience service “Minato – KAMAKURA -” in earnest, and are working towards expanding the service to fishing ports nationwide. About the new business overview Service name “Minato -KAMAKURA-” Background of the initiative • In Sagami Bay and other areas, environmental issues such as rocky shores have reduced the amount of fish caught, putting pressure on fishermen’s incomes, and securing new sources of income has become an issue. • On the other hand, the number of Japanese people who say they “love the sea” is decreasing, and the lack of opportunities for consumers to feel connected to the sea is also becoming an issue. • Therefore, PocketPort Co., Ltd. launched the fishing experience business “Minato” with the idea that by combining fishing with entertainment, we would provide new earning opportunities for fishermen and the fun of getting closer to the sea for consumers. Overview of new business Service 1 Takotsubo owner experience (fishing experience that you can easily participate in online) • Participants purchase ownership of “Takotsubo” (one set of 5 pots) used to catch octopuses online. • Participants will be provided with explanatory videos on the preparations and equipment for octopus fishing, and will learn about the fishing system while waiting for the day of landing. • On the day of landing, a live video of the takotsubo being landed will be streamed, allowing you to check in real time whether there is an octopus in your takotsubo. If the package contains octopus, the octopus will be processed, frozen, and delivered to your home. (In addition, if there is no octopus in the takotsubo, we will provide salted wakame produced by our affiliated fishermen). • Through an entertainment experience that allows participants to easily
participate from the comfort of their own homes and receive the octopus they have caught, the event will not only increase consumers’ interest in fishing, but also provide a new sales channel for fishermen.
