It is also called the Diamond Lily because its petals sparkle like diamond dust when exposed to sunlight. The language of flowers is “Looking forward to the day we meet again,” “Patience,” and “A girl in a box.” “Nerine” is a name derived from Nereis, a beautiful goddess who appears in Greek mythology. Nereis were goddesses who were so beautiful that they were cherished too much by their fathers, so they were kept captive at the bottom of the water. There were apparently 50 to 100 people there. Our Diamond Lily has been repeatedly improved since it was introduced to our garden in 1986, and it is an excellent variety with much larger flowers and temari-like blooms than the general Diamond Lily.
