JAL Press release: April 24, 2025 Application for revision of international flight “special fuel surcharge” (for tickets issued from June to July 2025) April 21, 2025 JAL has applied to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to revise the applicable amount of the “Special Fuel Surcharge” (commonly known as the “Fuel Surcharge”), which will be applied from June 2025. JAL reviews the special fuel surcharges every two months based on the average fuel market price for the most recent two months. The two-month average Singapore kerosene market price from February to March 2025 was USD 88.25 per barrel. Multiplying this by the average exchange rate of 150.49 yen per US dollar over the same period, the Singapore kerosene market price becomes 13,281 yen, and the special fuel surcharge that will be applied to tickets issued from June to July 2025 will be the amount in Zone H (13,000 yen base) of the condition sheet. However, the amount, revision timing, and applicable period may change depending on the government approval status. 2) Information regarding special fuel surcharges for tickets issued after August 2025 will be announced in June 2025. 3) If the average market price for two months falls below 6,000 yen per barrel, this fare will not apply. ◆ Applicable conditions 1) The same amount will be charged for both adults and children. Infants under 2 years old who do not occupy a seat are not eligible. Additionally, customers using JAL Mileage Bank international award tickets will also be required to pay the same amount. 2) If you request a refund after purchasing a ticket, no cancellation fee will be applied to fuel surcharges.
