JR West Hotels Press release: July 9, 2025 To members of the press [Hotel Granvia Wakayama] Summer in Wakayama, a gift of bamboo and light Hotel Granvia Wakayama x Takechiyo Bamboo Lantern Exhibition! ～We want to bring the light of Japan to you～ Wakayama Terminal Building Co., Ltd. (Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, President and CEO) Hotel Granvia Wakayama, operated by Masao Takeda, will be exhibiting “bamboo lanterns” made from Wakayama bamboo in the hotel lobby on the first floor and the Japanese restaurant “Mari” on the fifth floor for approximately two months from Wednesday, July 2, 2025. This exhibition was made possible with the cooperation of Takechiyo Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Takechiyo), which produces bamboo lanterns using bamboo harvested from abandoned bamboo forests in Wakayama Prefecture from the perspective of preserving satoyama. In addition, some of the works on display are made by users of “Kimito Mirai Shirahama” and “Kimito Mirai Kainan” (Type B Employment Support Businesses) run by Takechiyo, who carefully handcrafted bamboo lanterns from bamboo felled in the prefecture’s bamboo forests, each one filled with their own feelings.
