Chiba Prefecture Horse Racing Association Press release: September 1, 2025 To Members of the Press Funabashi Keiba The 7th event will be held from Monday, September 29th to Friday, October 3rd. The 7th event will feature the Nippon Television Cup (JpnII) and Marine Cup (JpnIII)! There will also be events for women and children to enjoy, such as a “Special Raffle” and “Carotta Fuwa Fuwa Land”! Funabashi Keiba will be holding its 7th event of fiscal year 2025 from Monday, September 29th to Friday, October 3rd. This year, the “Nippon Television Cup (JpnII)” and “Marine Cup (JpnIII)” will be held on consecutive days! Enjoy two consecutive nights of “Road to JBC.” In addition, there will be events for horse racing beginners to enjoy, such as a raffle and a beginners’ counter. Come enjoy the exciting September and October races at Funabashi Keiba! ■ What is “Nippon TV Cup (JpnII)” In 1953, Nippon Television Network Corporation (NTV) became the first commercial broadcaster in Japan to broadcast a regional horse race from Funabashi Racecourse. The race was
established in 1954, abbreviated as the NTV Cup, in commemoration of this. Since 1979, the race has been held from late September to early October, and the winning horses since then, including Abukuma Polo, Agnes Digital, Makibas Sniper, Furioso, and Smart Falcon, are all GI (JpnI) horses who played a central role in the dirt grade race scene. It is also considered one of the “Road to JBC” preliminary races for the JBC races, and the winning horse is given priority to enter the JBC Classic. This means that a strong field of horses, both JRA and regional, will gather, and a high-level race is expected, despite it being a JpnII race. ■What is the Marine Cup (JpnIII)? Established in 1997 as an inter-regional stakes race. Until 2023, it was a mile race for fillies aged 3 and above, but in 2024, With the establishment of a national-style dirt racing system, the race became an 1,800m race for 3-year-old fillies, and the race was moved to September. Starting in 2024, the winning horse will be given priority to compete in the JBC Ladies Classic, positioning it as the “Road to JBC.” ■7th Main Event (Planned) *For details on the date and location, please check the final release scheduled for distribution on Wednesday, September 24th. ◎Funabashi Keiba: Family-Friendly Autumn Fun This event will feature Carrotta Fluffy Land and a special raffle!
