(Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Tetsuya Tachibana), we have started accepting reservations for optional tours that allow you to participate in the morning service “Cho-ka-fugin” at “Eiheiji,” known as the head temple of the Soto sect. Eiheiji is a Zen dojo opened by Zen master Dogen in 1244. Even today, monks known as unsui (unsui) are engaged in rigorous training. On this tour, you will first listen to a sermon by a monk from Eiheiji Temple, and experience the teachings of Zen Master Dogen and the spirit of Zen. After that, you will participate in the morning service, Chokafugin. You will feel the solemn atmosphere of dozens of monks gathering together and chanting with all their heart. After the service, you will be guided by a monk to tour the temple. You will be guided through the temple and training grounds from a monk’s perspective. Spend some special time looking into yourself in the crisp early morning air.
