Miyu Kotani, a model and writer, will be the curator, and the project is to invite guests who feel that they would like to read an essay about their stay written from this person’s perspective to the hotel, and have them write an essay about the time they spent there and the charm of the hotel and Yokohama that they felt during their stay, using photos and life-sized words. The fifth guest is actor Ryoka Neya. Mr. Neya has been on stage since he was in the first year of junior high school, and has appeared in numerous films, mainly indie films, to date. In 2024, she played the role of Devil Masami in the drama “Gokuaku Queen” (Netflix), which became a hot topic, and this year, in addition to the currently released movie “Saotome Kanako no Case” (directed by Hitoshi Yazaki), she has two other movies scheduled to be released. Mr. Neya, who was participating in the photoshoot until the day before his stay, spends a relaxed and open time in his hotel room on the pier. Visit the renovated Yokohama Museum of Art, enjoy fresh vegetables at the hotel’s restaurant, take a trip to the nearby Osanbashi Passenger Terminal, and work out at the hotel’s gym. [Comment from Ryoka Neya] -Please tell us what made you decide to participate in the project- Because of my job as an actor, I sometimes stay in various cities for filming and film festivals. Most people wake up early in the morning and come back late at night, so hotels have traditionally been a place for them to take a bath and sleep. Even so, I always looked forward to the scenery I could see from my room window, and the colors and sounds of the city while walking. This time, I can fully appreciate it. And it’s a nice hotel right on the pier. It was a time when I didn’t have any lines to memorize, so I thought it was a good opportunity to take a break from being my true self, so I was happy to participate. -About Yokohama’s impressions and how interesting it was to stay at the hotel- When I think of Yokohama, the image of an “open city” comes to mind. Theaters, museums, amusement parks, shopping malls. A ropeway that passes between buildings and a port where ships come and go. Although it is sparkling, there are many old buildings. A stylish futuristic city. However, staying at InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8 gave me a sense of security, as if I had just returned from a long trip. It was a moment where I was able to look out at the cityscape of people coming and going and drift in the ocean of time as a person without a title or name. -A message to the readers- Amidst the busyness of my daily life, I felt like it was a waste for me, and I couldn’t really develop my skills. Staying in a nice hotel puts a spotlight on your emotional flow, just like being the hero or heroine of a movie. Even when I return home and my daily life returns to normal, the fact that those wonderful times remain in my memory is what keeps me going.
