Okuma Town suffered severe damage from the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear power plant accident during the Great East Japan Earthquake, and all 10,000 residents were forced to evacuate. After the evacuation order was partially lifted, efforts have been made for many years to rebuild the town, and on March 15, 2025, the industrial exchange facility “CREVA Okuma” and the commercial facility “Kuma SUN Terrace” will open in the former town center as a hub for liveliness, and are currently attracting attention. Mr. Matsui, who is from Fukushima Prefecture, visited Okuma Town for the first time, and said, “My trip to Okuma Town was inspiring, seeing the newly opened facilities and the proactive efforts to accelerate recovery.”It was an empowering trip.
