It was certified as one of Japan’s 100 Famous Castles in 2006, one of Japan’s 100 Beautiful Historical Landmarks along with Dogo Onsen in 2007, and one of Japan’s Night View Heritage Sites in 2020. The main keep is located on the summit of Mt. Shiroyama (Katsuyama) at an altitude of 132 meters in the center of Matsuyama City. The current castle tower was restored in 1852 and is attracting attention as the last work in the history of Japanese castle architecture. has been. ◆About “Matsuyama Shiroyama Ropeway Lift” Matsuyama Shiroyama Ropeway Lift is a cableway that serves as a sightseeing route to Matsuyama Castle, and the ropeway is a gondola that was updated in February 2020 and is in its sixth generation. Matsuyama Castle Honmaru is located at the top of the mountain at an altitude of 132m, so it is difficult to climb it on foot. Therefore, we recommend using the ropeway or lift that runs up to the 8th station! The ticket is a common ticket, and the feature is that you can choose whichever ride you like. ◆About “Matsuyama Castle Ninomaru Historic Site Garden” Ninomaru Historical Garden opened in May 1992. Based on excavations, etc., the floor plan of the Ninomaru residence was expressed on top of the remains. It is broadly divided into the “Oku-Goten Ato Ryusuien,” which recreates the floor plan of the rooms with the flow of water, and the “Omote Goten Ato Citrus Flower Garden,” which has been devised so that you can admire mandarin oranges, a specialty of Ehime. On the east side of the garden is the “Rinsen Garden,” which expresses wabi-sabi by arranging a pond and waterfall with exposed rocks in the background. The remains of the Oido are on display so that you can see them as they are.
