In order to make effective use of this, Japan Green Power Development has been working to manufacture SAF since 2018 using substandard coconuts procured in Indonesia as a new raw material. From 2022, as one of the pilot companies in the public-private council to promote the introduction of SAF, we will proceed with the procedure to obtain CORSIA certification from ICAO, and in March 2024, substandard coconut will be newly registered as a raw material for SAF. I did. SAF, which is made from substandard coconuts, is expected to be put into practical use by around 2030, and has been selected as a
NEDO-subsidized project, and will work with Asian countries to promote decarbonization while ensuring economic growth and energy security. It is also one of the cooperation projects of the AZEC (Asia Zero Emission Community) initiative. In order to become the leading airline in the use of SAF, JAL has set a goal of “replacing 10% of all fuel on board with SAF by 2030” and is working with domestic and international stakeholders to commercialize SAF. . JAL and Japan Green Power Development will work to build a diverse supply chain for domestically produced SAF and aim to commercialize domestically produced SAF made from substandard coconuts.
