This initiative is based on a partnership agreement between the two parties, and they have been creating learning opportunities together by utilizing the park. The school has a unique subject called “exploration” that crosses various subjects, and this class is held as part of that. The children think about a happy home for guinea pigs and through the activity of actually making one, they will learn about the “connection of life” while paying attention to life and living, and find their own answers. Prior to the lesson, Adventure World introduced the guinea pigs’ current homes and their favorite places online, and also answered questions about materials that can be used to make their homes. On the day of the lesson, the animal care staff will visit the school with the guinea pigs and watch how the guinea pigs spend their time in the ideal home that the children have imagined. “Inquiry” lesson: “Building a home where guinea pigs can live happily” (※Media members are welcome to take photos of the event)

Nakaheji-cho, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, near the park and along the Kumano Kodo trail. With the motto “Let’s learn, create, and adventure together,” the school offers an inquiry-based glocal education that connects students to the world, local areas, and nature in a natural environment. The school has been certified as a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (*1) PYP (Primary Years Programme), and offers inquiry-based learning based on this. Hours Co., Ltd., which operates Adventure World, has supported the philosophy of Utsubo no Mori Gakuen since the planning stage and signed a partnership agreement in February 2024. Up until now, the two companies have co-created exploratory learning opportunities that utilize the park’s resources through workshops and other activities. As a comprehensive educational program full of challenges, it aims to nurture children who understand and can deal with the complexity of the world, and to acquire the attitudes and skills to act responsibly for the future. In addition, the Diploma Program (DP) provides an internationally recognized university entrance qualification (International Baccalaureate qualification), ensuring a route to university admission. From the perspective of global human resource development, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology is also promoting its spread and expansion in Japan. The IB consists of three programs (as well as the IB Career-related Education Certificate) – Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP) – and these can only be implemented by schools accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
