The building utilizes the Asakusabashi Otaru Canal Warehouse Building, which faces the Otaru Canal, which is crowded with tourists. In addition to holding special exhibitions of the works in the collection, we will create a permanent exhibition using high-definition replicas and tool samples, making it a place where you can experience the charm of ukiyo-e at any time. The opening exhibition will be held in four periods from Thursday, July 24, 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026, and will introduce representative works of Otaru Art Village divided into four themes. The first period will be themed “Focusing on Hokusai and Hiroshige” and will feature works by Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige, ukiyo-e artists active in the late Edo period.
