Hotel Metropolitan Edmont (Location: Iidabashi, Chiyoda-ku; General Manager: Kobayashi Masaaki) will be introducing “IZ GLASS,” an environmentally friendly glass made from sugarcane-derived PLA (polylactic acid), to all guest rooms from early July 2025. This will not only provide guests with a comfortable stay, but will also contribute to reducing the environmental impact as a more eco-friendly hotel.

Reducing the use of disposable plastics is an urgent issue, and we have been considering introducing sustainable products that our guests can use repeatedly with peace of mind. “IZ GLASS” is a plant-based material that does not use petroleum, yet it is light, strong, and has excellent durability that allows it to be used repeatedly. The beautiful design, which is based on the nature of Aizu, such as foam snow, frost, white snow, snow moon, and snowmen, blends into the atmosphere of the guest room and provides guests with a comfortable time. Main features of “IZ GLASS” Eco-friendly material: Made of sugarcane-derived PLA (polylactic acid) material, it does not use petroleum and reduces the burden on the environment. After use, it can be disposed of as burnable waste and can also be composted. Safety and durability: Lightweight and durable, it is unlikely to break even if accidentally dropped, so it can be used safely by customers with small children. Functionality: Heat resistant up to 50℃ and cold resistant up to -20℃, suitable for a wide range of uses.
