While various events are being held in multiple areas of the city, the “Machinaka Art Marche”, which features six local restaurants and other establishments, will be held from 10:00 to 17:00 on both days at Komakko Square, which is at the entrance to Kanchogai-dori Street. A takeaway menu of Japanese and Western snacks, sweets, drinks, and more using local ingredients will be available. In order to increase the mobility of the exchange population in the central Towada City area, our organization has been holding the “Machinaka Art Marche” since 2020. By having local businesses set up stalls at Komakko Square, we aim to encourage local development by attracting tourists to the central city area, and to have an effect on the self-reliance and development of the local community and changing their attitudes. The Marche booths are wooden tents designed by WAA Co., Ltd. (formerly Watanabe Environmental Design Office). The booths are made of soft, curved beige and dark green tent fabric with a cedar frame made from Aomori Prefecture lumber, and are designed to match the landscape of Towada City, a city of art and architecture. We hope you will use this market as a starting point to enjoy the “Towadamarutto Festival” and enjoy the summer days of Towada City.
