Kinshoji Temple was founded in the Nara period and is a famous temple in Ritto City, Shiga Prefecture, with a history of over 1,200 years. Located on the slopes of Mt. Kinsho overlooking Lake Biwa, the temple grounds are surrounded by rich nature and are home to over 70 types of moss. During fieldwork in the temple grounds, where a wide variety of moss grows in colonies, from familiar species to rare species, you can enjoy the microscopic world through a magnifying glass with a moss map in hand.
