It features a well-being experience that soothes the mind and body, and is designed in four categories: beauty, gastronomy, health, and hot springs/sauna. Kusatsu is characterized by a climate that is cool in the summer and sub-zero in the winter, and the building takes advantage of the original topography and trees to keep the building cool in the summer by letting in the wind, and in the winter to warm up with sunlight and hot spring heat.We have devised ways to reduce energy consumption in consideration of the impact on the natural environment. The roof shape is in keeping with the local climate of Kusatsu, and the circular arrangement takes advantage of the differences in height, resulting in a design that is close to nature, allowing you to enjoy the richness of the semi-outdoor space, such as sunlight filtering through the trees when looking outside from inside, throughout the four seasons. We also make full use of materials with natural textures such as wood and stone, and use inherited techniques to create a strong wooden frame. In this way, by coexisting with Kusatsu’s natural environment, we are working to reduce primary energy consumption while living comfortably all year round.
